KOTTAYAM The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) national secretary Amarjeet Kaur has reportedly alleged that the high inflation is due to the skewed policies of the UPA government at the Centre. She said the national convention of trade unions have planned a series of agitations during the next three months against the UPA government. These agitations are meant to mobilise support for national strike on September 20.
Various organisations representing banks, insurance, defence, Central and State government and railway sector participated in the convention. The national strike will pitch for a ban on forward trading, strengthening of public distribution system, change in Essential Commodities Act, comprehensive legislation for unorganised sector and ban on disinvestment of PSUs.
The agitations during the run up to the national strike include protests at the district level on July 14, dharnas and courting arrests on July 30, and call for strike by nationwide on August 4.
